Student Niner Media took home major awards from state and national conventions over the last two weeks.
Most recently, five students and two advisers attended the annual College Media Association’s spring convention in New York City from Feb. 28 through March 1. Students won two Apple Awards: Niner Times won first place for social media coverage of a single event and Midas won honorable mention for best magazine.
While in New York City, students and staff participated in sessions led by media professionals and college media advisers. Assistant director Justin Paprocki presented a session called “Keeping in Touch: How to Engage Your Alumni.” New assistant director Jodorrian Taylor completed the two-day new adviser certification program.
CMA is the nation’s largest organization representing student media outlets from across the country. The Apple Awards are the organization’s Best of Show awards for the spring convention, honoring student-produced work from around the country.
On Feb. 22, students attended the one-day North Carolina College Media Association conference at Appalachian State University. The NCCMA is an organization that supports media operations at public and private colleges and universities in the state.
Student Niner Media won 11 awards, including Best of Show awards for Niner Times newspaper and ninertimes.com. Other wins:
