Awards season is here, and Student Niner Media is winning.
Student Niner Media took home 13 awards at the annual ACP/CMA Fall National College Media Convention in New Orleans Oct. 30-Nov. 2, including three first place finishes.
In the College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards, Itza Ochoa won first place for her sports game story about Charlotte’s upset of ranked Florida Atlantic University in basketball. Niner Times won the top prize for its cover of its Feb. 6 issue, which called into question the university’s response time to a false shooter threat. Nova Literary-Arts Magazine won first for best literary magazine table of contents.

Midas magazine and Nova also won in two of the American Collegiate Press contests.
ACP Best of Show:
Feature Magazine: Sixth Place
Literary Arts Magazine: Seventh Place
Midas was also named an ACP Pacemaker finalist, designating them among the best magazines in the country.
CMA is the nation’s largest organization representing student media outlets from across the country. Each year, they team with the ACP for a joint convention. Student Niner Media attended this year with two students and an adviser.
In addition, Niner Media’s marketing department won two awards at the annual College Media Business & Advertising Managers (CMBAM) convention in Philadelphia Nov. 7-9: third place for best self promotional website and honorable mention for best living (renters) guide.
