Niner Times won two Apple Awards related to their work covering the U.S. Customs & Border Protection operations in Charlotte–first place for social media coverage of a single event and third place for crisis coverage–and the marketing department got an honorable mention for best multimedia ad campaign.

Three students and two advisers attended the annual CMA convention March 4-7 in New York City. Director Kelly Merges presented a sessions titled "Advising 201: Recruit, Retain and Train" and "From Cover to Content: Exploring Literary Arts and Cultural Magazines." She also served on a panel of veteran advisers for the new adviser track. Assistant director Justin Paprocki presented a session called “Keeping in Touch: How to Engage Your Alumni.”

More than 700 students and advisers from 135 schools attended this year’s conference. CMA is the nation’s largest organization representing student media outlets from across the country. The Apple Awards are the organization’s Best of Show awards for the spring convention, honoring student-produced work from around the country.
