Niner Times (print and digital), Midas and Nova Literary-Arts Magazine all won Best of Show awards, and Student Niner Media took home 28 awards total from the N.C. College Media Association conference at Elon University Feb. 28. From our tally, that’s the most Student Niner Media has ever won at NCCMA. 

Here’s what all we brought home:

  • Best of Show – Literary Magazine
  • Poetry: Honorable Mention: Maya Osaka, “unearthed”
  • Fiction:
    • 1st Place: Martha Stallman, “NKDA”
    • 2nd Place: G.W. McClary, “Ten Easy Pieces”
  • Two-Page Spread: 3rd Place: Ben Stadler, “Table of Contents”

Midas

  • Best of Show – General Interest Magazine
  • Cover: 1st Place: Sarah Carson and Michelle Flores, “Midas”

  • Photography/Art:
    • 1st Place: Michelle Flores, “Bath of Time”

Four students (pictured) from Student Niner Media attended the day-long conference, which featured panel discussions, a keynote address featuring WBTV’s David Hodges and breakout sessions. The NCCMA is an organization that supports media operations at public and private colleges and universities in the state.
